Roque Santa Cruz, who has had to be content with a place on the bench due to Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor’s recent form, has revealed that all of the Manchester City players have been training harder than ever to earn places for the looming Manchester Derby at the weekend.
“Everybody wants to play in this game and in training everybody is trying to prove a point, trying to prove that they are the ones who should play on Saturday,” says Roque. “It’s interesting to see how everybody is in training in these last few weeks of the season with the situation we are in being so exciting."
On top of bragging rights over Manchester United, the stakes have been raised, as Man City are also attempting to solidify their position in the final Champions League spot, while the Red Devils are chasing Chelsea for the Premier League title.
