Midfielder Steed Malbranque has expressed his desire to remain at Sunderland, amidst rumours linking him with a move away from the club. The 30-year-old has been a regular under manager Steve Bruce, and is determined to remain with the team, especially after developing a special bond with the Black Cats’ supporters.

Of course, my future is with Sunderland, no question about that. I think recently I am in good form and it’s good to be in the first team,” Malbranque told BBC Newcastle before expressing his delight at the support from the club’s fans. "I am happy to hear that, I’ve got a lot of fans behind me and it’s positive for me. I try to play well for the team and for the fans.

Malbranque joined Sunderland from Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, but it took some time before the fans warmed to his presence.
