New Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has played down talk that managing director Christian Purslow will not be involved in the sale process at the club.
Purslow had been handling the search for investment having been brought in by US owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, and while the appointment of Broughton appears to cut into that role, the new chairman confirmed the managing director will still be involved.
"Christian Purslow, Philip Nash and Ian Ayre are an excellent management team. They’ll basically run the club and I’ll run the sale process." said Broughton to liverpoolfc.tv, before going on to add: "But I’ll work very closely with Christian on the sale process – he’ll be involved in it as well."
Broughton also went on to state that he is searching for the right bidder and not necessarily the highest bidder.
