Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, despite his side seemingly out of the title race, has demanded that his side recover after a stunning 3-2 defeat to Wigan Athletic at the weekend. The Gunners held a 2-0 lead with ten minutes left, but managed to throw away any chance of a result after giving away three goals in quick succession at the DW Stadium.

"It doesn’t matter if it is difficult or not difficult [to raise ourselves], this job is not only for easy times, it is for difficult times as well, and we have to respond in the next game," said the French boss on the club’s official website. "What dictates the championship is the performance on the pitch and you focus for 90 minutes and we weren’t capable of maintaining that."

Goals from Theo Walcott and Mikael Silvestre looked certain to keep Arsenal in pace with Manchester United and Chelsea in the title race, but a shocking collapse now sees them six points behind the leaders.
