Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has admitted his side have suffered a disappointing season, but claims his side still have the opportunity to win a prestigious trophy in the Europa League.
"I think the Europa League is massive compared, say, to the Carling Cup because of the teams left," the Spanish tactician said on the club’s official website. “The best possible finish to the season for us would be winning the Europa League or being in the top four. If not, then you have to understand that a bad season is part of the game. I’ve not had many bad seasons, so that is a problem for me."
The Reds, currently seventh in the league, are unlikely to finish fourth in this campaign, as they lie eight points away from Tottenham Hotspur, who are sitting in the final Champions League spot.
