With the absence of the injured Fernando Torres, youngster David Ngog has been handed the responsibility of providing the attack for Liverpool, and he hasn’t disappointed. The 21-year-old impressed alongside Dirk Kuyt in The Reds’ front line, even adding his first goal since February to prove he is well up to the challenge.
“I am pleased with my goal," the French striker told the club’s official website. "I hadn’t scored for a couple of months and as a striker you always want to score. It was good for me and my confidence. Hopefully if I can score more, it will be good for the team too.”
Ngog’s performance helped Liverpool return to sixth in the Premier League standings, leapfrogging Aston Villa, who have played a game less.
