Andrey Arshavin believes Arsenal will endure a much easier next season, if striker Robin van Persie can remain fit. The Dutchman was forced out for most of the campaign due to an ankle injury, leaving The Gunners without an out-and-out forward aside from youngster Nicklas Bendtner.

"Unfortunately it [Van Persie’s return] is slightly too late to win a trophy," Arshavin said on the club’s official website. "He had a big impact last season and he has done well before his injury, so he is showing his quality. It would be easier for us [if we had not had the injuries]. I cannot say we would be champions but it would be easier for us."

Arsenal, who lost to Wigan Athletic at the weekend, are highly unlikely to win the Premier League title this year, but few expected the North London club to perform so impressively this season. Should their squad remain healthy next campaign few will argue the young side are incapable of major silverware.
