Chelsea have confirmed that midfielder Michael Essien will not be available for the rest of the season. The 27-year-old has been unavailable for The Blues since December, and although he was expected to return before the campaign ended, complications in the rehabilitation have resulted in a delay.
"Michael Essien will not be in the squad for the weekend’s game against Stoke City at Stamford Bridge," said a club spokesman on the league’s official website."We were hoping that Michael recovered before the final game but it now looks unlikely that he will feature for us again this season."
The Ghanaian’s services have been missed this season, with injury problems limiting the former regular to just 14 appearances in the Premier league this campaign.
