Liverpool succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid last night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium. The result ensures the Spanish side will take a slim advantage to the second leg of the Europa League semi-final, which will be played at Anfield in a week’s time. Goalkeeper Pepe Reina was obviously disappointed with the loss, but insists with The Reds’ support at their home ground, a turnaround is still well within reach.
”It was important to keep the tie alive and, as I say, there is still 90 minutes to play at Anfield,” the Spanish shot-stopper said on the club’s official website. "We are behind now and it is going to be difficult, but if there is any team that can do it with the supporters behind them, it is Liverpool. There is no doubt about that."
The Merseyside giants will need to regroup and deliver against Atletico next week if they are to salvage any hopes of achieving silverware this season.
