According to France Football, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is very interested in the possibility of luring Fernando Torres over to Eastlands. The Italian tactician, who rates the Spanish striker as, “one of the best players in Europe, along with [Carlos] Tevez, [Wayne] Rooney, [Lionel] Messi, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo,” feels the addition could propel the ambitious club to new heights.

Although manager Rafael Benitez has stated on numerous occasions, his desire to keep the talismanic striker at Anfield, the club’s inability to qualify for the Champions League next season could prove to be a large factor in Torres’ potential move away from the Merseyside giants.

Mancini admits participation in Europe’s biggest tournament is key to luring top players to Man City, and is determined to finish fourth in the standings this season, in order to take the mega-rich club closer to their goal of eventually winning the Premier League.
