In addition to losing legendary striker Raul for the rest of the season, Real Madrid will also have to cope without reborn midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, who was unfortunately injured in the side’s win against Real Zaragoza, and is expected to miss the rest of the season..
The Dutchman has become a vital piece in manager Manuel Pellegrini’s side, proving he has more than enough quality to hang with the team’s highly talented individuals. The former Hamburg player filled in tremendously well upon Kaka’s absence due to injury a couple of months back, developing a strong following among the club’s faithful in the process.
A statement on the club’s website read, “Following a clinical examination and a magnetic resonance on the left thigh of Rafael van der Vaart at Sanitas-La Moraleja Hospital, the Medical Staff has determined the player suffers from a grade I-II tear on the left phemoral biceps. He will miss at least three weeks.”
