Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle visited England’s World Cup base earlier this month, and has praised the Bafokeng Sports Campus, describing it as “the best facility any of the nations have got.” The former England international went on to say to BBC Sport, “It’s great. It really is a top quality training camp.”
The former Chelsea man’s positive assessment of the nation’s training ground will surely bring a sense of comfort for England supporters, who are looking forward to the team’s first World Cup triumph since 1966.
Although England breezed by qualification for the World Cup, Fabio Capello’s side are still considered underdogs against the likes of Brazil and Spain. Hoddle insists however, that favourites do not always go on to win, saying, “Brazil and Spain are clearly the favourites but things can go wrong for them – Spain have never been in this position going into tournament so it will be interesting to see how they cope.”
