Ryan Babel has revealed that he had never intended to leave Liverpool, despite widespread reports linking him with a host of Premier League clubs. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said, “They were just rumours. It was one of the things that meant I did not concentrate 100 per cent.”

There were conflicting reports during the January transfer window, regarding Babel’s position in The Reds’ squad, understandably causing anxiety for the young Dutchman, which in turn affected his performances for the club.

It seems everything has been patched up however, and Babel is now in line to start in Liverpool’s crunch Europa League semi-final match against Atletico Madrid tonight. “I am happy that period is over, I can concentrate, and also that Liverpool have confidence in me and I have confidence in Liverpool,” the attacker concluded.
