With the World Cup fast approaching, much of the focus has been on Spain and Brazil, who have been deemed the favourites to win the competition. Italy, despite winning the tournament in 2006, have not been tipped to achieve a repeat in 2010, but Italian youngster Giuseppe Rossi warns his side are still more than capable.

A large part of the current group played at Germany 2006," said the New Jersey-born marksman. "They know how it’s done and how to deal with the pressures of winning such a prestigious competition. If we can tap into their experience, we stand a good chance of winning it again."

Italy’s aging squad has been pinpointed as the reason why most feel the holders stand little chance of defending their title, but it would be foolish to count out the veteran side, who were also not seen as favourites in 2006.
