Atletico Madrid coach Quique Flores has paid tribute to his players after they advanced to the Europa League final at Liverpool’s expense last night. The Spanish coach had great confidence in his charges from the outset and the away goals win at Anfield could rescue a disappointing La Liga campaign.
"I am very happy" Flores told Marca, "I am fortunate to train these players."
Flores also gave credit for Atletico’s progress to a European final to former coach Abel Resino, who the 45-year-old replaced in October last year.
"These are times when we must not forget the previous coaches," said Flores, "I have simply picked up their legacy."
