Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has hailed his players as historic after they booked their place in the Europa League final by seeing off Hamburg 2-1 last night. The former Inter Milan coach believes it is a fantastic achievement for the London side to be heading to Hamburg to contest a European final.

"To have reached a Europa League final," Hodgson told the press, "and I do not care if you are Fulham or one of the top four, is an outstanding achievement."

Fulham will now hope their form can continue into the meeting with Atletico Madrid, one which promises to see Hodgson cap what has been an excellent job at the Craven Cottage side so far.
