Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has dropped a large hint that the club may not have much money to spend in the summer transfer window and will instead be relying upon the club’s worldwide reputation to attract new players.
Benitez was questioned on the club’s summer transfer plans by the press after the Europa League exit to Atletico Madrid last night, and specifically whether failing to reach the final of the competition would have any effect on The Reds’ squad strengthening quest.
"It will be the same situation" said Benitez, "Liverpool Football Club is a massive club and we will try to do our best." He also added, "The name of the club is there."
The Spaniard also accepted Liverpool are likely to need between three and four key arrivals this summer to punch their weight in the Premier League next season.
