It is appearing increasingly likely that Valencia will bid farewell to David Villa and Juan Mata this summer, while doing their best to hang on to David Silva. The club’s debt problems seem crucial in determining that Los Che will have little alternative but to sanction the departure of both stars, with Barcelona at the head of the queue.
Indeed, Madrid based daily Marca yesterday reported a verbal agreement between Barcelona and Valencia for the transfer of David Villa in a deal which would see €40M alongside Bojan and Aleksandr Hleb head to the Mestalla. Despite these reports being denied by the Catalan giants, there seems little doubt work behind the scenes is progressing to bring the Spain striker and his club team-mate to the Camp Nou.
Villa meanwhile has refused to comment on the reports. "I do not want to go into this series of controversies and rumours as I did last summer", said the Valencia star.
