According to Madrid based daily Marca, Real Madrid are making plans in the event that they cannot tempt Cesc Fabregas to Arsenal, or the midfielder chooses Barcelona. While Fabregas is a key target for Los Blancos in the summer, the La Liga giants are exploring the possibility of bringing in Roma star Daniele De Rossi.
De Rossi is a key player for the Giallorossi and Roma would not be pleased to sanction his departure, especially as fellow midfielder Alberto Aquilani was lost to Liverpool last summer. However, the Italian side have not completely dismissed Real Madrid’s interest, instead hinting that a bid of €50M might be enough to allow De Rossi to board a plane to the Spanish capital.
While Fabregas remains Real Madrid’s top midfield target, along with David Silva of Valencia, De Rossi has emerged as a quite serious backup option.
