Not only did Liverpool effectively get dumped out of the race for fourth place in the Premier League by losing to Chelsea, they also suffered the bad luck of losing key players Maxi Rodriguez and Jamie Carragher. Manager Rafael Benitez, confirmed on the club’s official website, “Maxi had a problem with his adductor and Carra twisted his ankle.”

Although the Spaniard admits they “don’t know if they (injuries) are serious,” he claims, “with Maxi, I don’t think it is (serious), but with Carra we do not know."

This means more bad news for a Liverpool side that has had to suffer a very difficult week. The Reds were knocked out of the Europa League in midweek, ensuring any chance of salvaging their disastrous season was drowned, along with their chance to play in the Champions League next year.
