Former Fulham boss Chris Coleman has been sacked as manager of Coventry City after managing to guide the side to a disappointing 19th place finish in the Championship. The Welshman took over the post in February 2008, and succeeded in steering the side to safety.
The following year Coleman could only conjure a 17th place finish however, before producing a worse performance this season. Such deteriorating results have forced the club’s management to agree that the 39-year-old needed to be removed from his position.
"The board would like to place on record their thanks for his efforts over two and a half years,” Sky Blues Chairman Ray Ranson said on BBC Sport. “We will not be rushed into finding a successor and the board will explore every avenue to appoint the right manager to take Coventry City forward."
