Speculation is growing stronger that former England manager Steve McClaren will be announced as Wolfsburg manager in the near future. Just a day after being linked with the post for the former Bundesliga champions, rumours have emerged that the FC Twente boss could be in more advanced talks than initially anticipated.
According to reports on France Football, the once disgraced England coach turned mastermind of Twente’s first ever Eredivisie title, is set to be following in Louis van Gaal’s footsteps and making the switch to the Bundesliga after success in the Dutch league.
Wolfsburg disappointingly drifted this season, showing incapable of reproducing the performances that saw them become champions just the campaign before. McClaren is being tipped as the man to bring the German side back to glory, and reports claim he will be announced manager next week.
