According to Catalan daily Sport, with Gonzalo Higuain reported to have rejected several attempts to renew his Real Madrid contract, Manchester United have been placed on high alert on the availability of the prolific striker’s availability. As Dimitar Berbatov continues to prove his inability to cut it with the English giants, manager Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing a replacement that can significantly help Wayne Rooney in the goals department.
Although Real will be unlikely to want to part with the Argentinean youngster, a reported rift with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could prove the vital factor in pushing the talented 22-year-old to the Premier League heavyweights.
Higuain, who is valued at €29M, has managed 27 goals in 36 matches in all competitions for Los Blancos this season, more than double of what the disappointing Berbatov has notched with Man Utd.
