With plenty of speculation linking manager Steve McClaren with a move away from the recent Eredivisie champions FC Twente, the club have released a “hands off” statement in a last ditch attempt to hold on to the tactician that brought the Dutch side its first ever league title.
The highly-criticised former England boss is believed to be attracting plenty of interest in various leagues after his impressive transformation of Twente, with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg reported to be the club most interested in his services.
“He [McClaren] still has a contract for next season, and the president has declared that no one has mentioned him yet. He is now the team manager and we are waiting to see what the manager says,” a spokesperson of Twente said on transfermarkt.de, before continuing, “We hope he stays for a long time.”
