Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his belief that his side are now worthy to demand the respect of any opponent they face. With the club in contention for a historic treble, the outspoken Portuguese tactician is adamant his team are deserving of special praise.

We have arrived in the final of the Coppa Italia, the final of the Champions League and we’re in the race for the Scudetto until the last game, so I don’t ask for respect, I demand it,” said Mourinho on the club’s official website, before reiterating his stance. “If we have arrived at this stage we don’t deserve respect, but we demand it.”

Inter are undoubtedly enjoying their best season in a long time, with success in the Champions League a particularly impressive feat. Despite domestic dominance over the years, Mourinho has been the manager to bring the club back to the final of Europe’s most prestigious tournament for the first time in around 40 years.
