Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his confidence at signing coveted Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh in the summer, after the Moroccan confirmed that he would be leaving the French club at the end of the current season. The 26-year-old is out of contract in June, and is expected to join the Gunners on a free transfer.

"It is not officially done, but we are confident on the boy. When all is clear we will come out and announce it,” the French tactician said on Fifa’s official website. Chamakh has been linked with a move to the club since last summer, and is now finally ready to make the jump to the Premier League.

The Bordeaux striker will add much needed support to Arsenal’s attack, which is currently being criticised as over-reliant on Dutchman Robin van Persie.
