Fluminense have identified Chelsea midfielder Deco as the man to strengthen their bid to win the Brasileirão this season, according to reports from Brazil.

The Portugal international, who is in fact Brazilian, having only gained Portuguese citizenship in 2002, could well be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge next season, and Fluminense coach Muricy Ramalho is believed to be keen to take him home.

According to Globoesporte, Fluminense president Marcelo Penha, will be in London next week, and will make his proposal to Chelsea for the transfer of Deco. Indeed, it is believed Deco is Penha’s top transfer target.

If the 32-year-old returned to Brazil it would continue the trend of established stars heading home at a much younger age. Already Ronaldo, Adriano and Vagner Love will star in this year’s Brasileirão.
