Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has been forced to comment on rumours linking him with a summer move to Schalke. Talk over a possible return to Germany reached fever-pitch yesterday when Schalke manager Felix Magath, while being interviewed on Sportstudio, stated his admiration for the midfielder and said he would not confirm or deny the reports.

Ballack now though has told German paper Sportbild that he is not considering a move back to his homeland and, if he does leave Chelsea, then he would prefer to remain in the Premier League, having settled well in England.

Schalke, if they choose to pursue their interest, will surely find it hard to compete financially with any interested Premier League clubs, given their well documented debt burden.
