Manchester United’s third-string goalkeeper Ben Foster is expected to make a £4M move to Birmingham City, according to BBC Sport. With Joe Hart set to return to Manchester City after his massively successful loan spell with the newly-promoted side, manager Alex McLeish sees the Red Devils’ 27-year-old shot stopper as the ideal long-term replacement.
With Edwin van der Sar injured at the start of the season, Foster started the campaign as Man Utd’s first-choice keeper, but costly errors against Chelsea, Manchester City and Sunderland saw his reign cut short.
Although manager Sir Alex Ferguson still feels the former Stoke player will certainly be England’s number one sooner rather than later, it seemingly isn’t stopping the Scot from selling Foster to Birmingham.
