With Bayern Munich successfully turning things around this season, sporting director Christian Nerlinger is growing more confident that coveted winger Franck Ribery will be remaining with the German giants for at least another campaign, according to Sport Bild.
The French international expressed his doubts in the past about remaining with the Bundesliga heavyweights, as at the time, the club were looking unlikely to be competing for a major European title. Although Real Madrid and Barcelona were rumoured to be among his preferred destinations in the summer, Bayern’s resurgence in the Champions League may just be what the side needed to convince the crafty winger to stay.
After a slow start under manager Louis van Gaal, the German giants recovered to be crowned champions of the Bundesliga, and become finalists, along with Inter Milan, in the Champions League.
