William Gallas’ recovery seems to be moving along quite well, meaning the defender is looking likely to be fully fit by the time the World Cup comes around in June. The Arsenal centre-back has taken time to heal after injuring his leg against Barcelona back in late March.

The 32-year-old underwent scans on Monday, and the results have reassured the France staff that the defender will be ready to travel to South Africa and compete when the tournament kicks off.

Coach Raymond Domenech is adamant however, that the former Olympique Marseille man will only feature for Les Bleus in the World Cup, if the centre-back is fully fit, saying to L’Equipe, “If he is fully operational then he will be involved in everything, but if he is not, then he will be sent home.”
