After experiencing the heartbreak of losing the Europa League final with Fulham, standout striker Bobby Zamora revealed that injuries ultimately forced him out of England’s World Cup squad.

I knew I wouldn’t have done myself or England justice had I gone," the former West Ham United player. "It was a joint decision between myself, Capello, Fulham’s medical team and England’s medical team. The World Cup is a massive tournament. It’s not about myself, it’s about England.

Zamora scored 21 goals in 44 matches for Fulham this season, just about double his best ever tallies in six seasons in the Premier League. The Englishman has been a man on a mission in this campaign, and has been vital in the Cottagers’ historic run in the Europa League.
