With Real Madrid on the verge of finishing the season empty handed after a massive spending spree last summer, manager Manuel Pellegrini has been heavily rumoured to be on the way out of the club. Should Barcelona win at the weekend, it will ensure Los Blancos win nothing this campaign, despite bringing in the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Karim Benzema.

The uncertainty surrounding Pellegrini’s position has caused speculation that Inter Milan’s Jose Mourinho could be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu, to be the man that steers the star-studded side to success.

One player who would welcome the arrival of the outspoken Portuguese manager, is midfielder Lassana Diarra, who worked with Mourinho at Chelsea. The 25-year-old said to AS, “Jose did not speak to me as if he was my father but he explains everything. He does things and I always understood what he was saying. He has always believed in me. Mourinho is someone important, and special for me.”
