According to France Football, Bordeaux manager Laurent Blanc has been allowed to leave the club and is set to become the successor to Raymond Domenech as France head coach. Speculation has been rife about the possible appointment, and it is believed that the announcement will be made shortly.
Olympique Marseille manager Didier Deschamps, who won the World Cup with Les Bleus team-mate Blanc back in 1998, was all for the decision to pick the Bordeaux manager, saying, “That’s great, it’s a very good choice.”
After coaching last year’s Ligue 1 champions for three seasons, Blanc is understood to have set up arrangements to enjoy one last experience with his players and staff, a means of bidding farewell before he embarks on a new adventure.
