Samuel Eto’o has praised current club coach Jose Mourinho and dismissed suggestions in Spain that the Portuguese boss is a defensive tactician. Mourinho has been heavily linked with the job of Real Madrid coach for next season and debate in the capital is raging over whether the ex-Chelsea man would be the right choice.

"Mourinho is not defensive," Eto’o told Marca, springing to Mourinho’s defence. "He has played with five forwards before", said the Cameroon striker.

The striker, who moved from Barcelona to Inter last summer, went on to praise Mourinho’s impact on the Italian giants, words that will no doubt be music to the ears of anyone in Madrid who believes Mourinho is the right choice for Real Madrid.
