Speculation is growing that Jose Mourinho will take over at Real Madrid next season and when he does will ask president Florentino Perez to swoop for a number of his old Chelsea stars. Talk in recent weeks has linked both Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard with moves to Spain and now Barcelona based daily Sport believes Mourinho is keen on Didier Drogba too.

Talks between Mourinho and Real Madrid have not centred on the wages the Portuguese boss would receive – that is widely known to be €11M in addition to compensation of €9M to Inter – but instead on which players would be required at the Bernabeu.

Mourinho is apparently keen on Drogba, feeling that he could be one of the last pieces in the puzzle for Real Madrid. Even at the age of 32, Mourinho believes that the Ivory Coast striker has at least two years left at the highest level and futhermore sees Karim Benzema as making way.

Chelsea will no doubt resist recruitment of their star however.
