Bayern Munich warmed up for the Champions League final in style yesterday with a 4-0 demolition of Werder Bremen to win the German Cup. The result gave Bayern a domestic double and sends them to Madrid looking to, like opponents Inter, bag a fantastic trophy treble.

Club president Uli Hoeness saluted the triumph and then warned Inter that his side were playing at a higher level than when they lifted the Champions League in 2001.

"Our team is playing better than when we won the Champions League in 2001", said Hoeness. "We’re very dominant in our play and have so much of the ball that our opponents quickly get tired."

Bayern will no doubt go into the Champions League final high on confidence, but whether they can surpass Jose Mourinho’s Inter remains to be seen.
