The mastermind behind Bayern Munich’s revival, Louis van Gaal, has confirmed that he will be staying with the club for at least another season. The Dutchman had once claimed he planned to quit should he complete a treble with the side, but has now retracted the statements even before facing Inter Milan in the Champions League finals.
Bayern, like Inter have achieved a domestic double, with the final on Saturday all that is keeping one of the sides from completing a remarkable treble. The German giants were looking destined for another disappointing season after a disastrous start to the campaign, but a spectacular run in the latter half now sees the club with a chance for a historic trophy haul.
Van Gaal’s belief in Bayern Munich’s development could be one of the factors affecting his decision to remain with the club, as he said on France Football, “Never had I seen this before, so many players believe in my philosophy. But this team can become even better. We have not yet realized our full potential.”
