Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has reserved exceptional praise for defender Ledley King, who was recently called up to the England squad by Fabio Capello. The injury prone centre-back was unexpectedly included in the Three Lions squad, after a series of spectacular performances late in the season.

"How he can not train regularly and then play like he did against [Carlos] Tevez and [Emmanuel] Adebayor in the win at City defied logic. It was amazing,” Redknapp said on the club’s official website. "Ledley is right up there with the very best players in the country. He’s a special player for us."

The club captain has agreed to sign a new deal with the Spurs, keeping him with the club until 2012.
