Although 33-year-old Michael Ballack is certain to miss the World Cup with Germany after picking up an ankle injury in the FA Cup final against Portsmouth, he has insisted that he has no plans to quit international football.
Speaking to German daily Bild, the national team captain said, “I never said that I would stop [playing for Germany] after the World Cup. I will not allow an unfortunate tackle to end my career with the German team.”
With his age however, Ballack’s future with the German team will be uncertain, much like his situation with club Chelsea. The former Bayern Munich midfielder will be at the end of his contract with the Blues in June, and chances of an extension with this season’s double winners are looking quite bleak.
