Arsenal youngster Theo Walcott, who is part of Fabio Capello’s provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup despite a mediocre club campaign, is confident England will be ready for big things in June.
“We’ve got to believe that we can win the tournament," he told Arsenal.com. "Obviously Spain are one of the big favourites, they won the European Championships and that was a great achievement. But we’ve got nothing to fear because we’ve got some fantastic players.”
Walcott also points at England’s almost perfect qualifying campaign as a source of plenty of confidence for the squad. With Capello at the helm, the Three Lions have looked to have gained the proper mentality needed to compete against the world’s best, and this new found attitude will be tested in South Africa.
