With his future at Real Madrid surrounded with uncertainty, Manuel Pellegrini is being linked as the possible successor to Marcelo Bielsa, who is rumoured to be leaving his post as boss of Chile after guiding the side to its first World Cup in 12 years.

Highly respected Argentinean coach Claudio Borghi, who has succeeded in winning four titles in the Chilean top flight, believes the Real Madrid boss would be the perfect successor to Bielsa, saying to radio station La Red, “I believe that Chile has a natural successor [to Bielsa], and that is Pellegrini.”

With Jose Mourinho looking ever more likely to be arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer, Pellegrini will be looking for a new team to coach, despite steering Real to their highest ever points total in La Liga in his first season in charge.
