According to Spanish paper AS, whether Jose Mourinho completes the switch to Santiago Bernabeu or not, Real Madrid will be doing all in their power to snap up Athletic Bilbao youngster Javi Martinez in the summer.

The 21-year-old was included by Vicente del Bosque in Spain’s 23-man World Cup squad, after an impressive season that saw him take charge of his team’s midfield. The youngster also managed to score seven goals in the last campaign, to help Los Leones finish eighth in the La Liga standings.

Martinez will not come cheap however, with his contract’s buy-out clause in the region of €30M. Mourinho has already had the chance to assess the player, and is believed to be also in favour for the young talent’s acquisition.
