According to German paper Bild, after months of speculation linking Franck Ribery with a plethora of different clubs, the Frenchman is about to do what was almost unthinkable a few months back. Looking certain to leave Bayern Munich earlier in the year, the standout winger is now set to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga giants, keeping him at the club until 2015.
The former Olympique Marseille player had expressed on numerous occasions earlier this year, when Bayern were still struggling, that he wanted to join a team that had the ability to compete for the biggest competitions in world football.
With the German heavyweights completing a dramatic turnaround in the second half of the season after a disastrous start, Ribery has found it unnecessary to leave Bayern in search for glory. Manager Louis van Gaal’s side are currently domestic double winners and are in the final of the Champions League with a shot at a remarkable treble.
