After a disastrous season with Liverpool, Rafael Benitez insists he is unperturbed by the pressure he will be facing to succeed next season. The Spanish tactician believes that regardless of how disappointing his last campaign was, the demand to win the Reds’ first Premier League title since 1990 will always be the same.

"A coach has to try to protect his players so that they can perform," Benitez said on the club’s official website. "When things go badly, it is the manager’s responsibility. That is normal. It is impossible to ignore the pressure until you have won the title."

After six seasons with Liverpool, Benitez has succeeded in bringing FA Cup and Champions League titles to the club. The Reds have not won anything in the last three seasons though, with the 2008/09 campaign their closest ever chance to winning the elusive Premier League title.
