There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Dimitar Berbatov’s Manchester United career after another lacklustre season, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson is adamant the former Tottenham Hotspur star will be plying his trade with the Red Devils next season.

When asked if the underperforming Bulgarian could be on his way out of the club, the Scottish coach replied on the league’s official website, “No, he will not – definitely not. There’s speculation every year and we’ve got to live with that hype. We know Dimitar is a good player and he will be with us next year."

After two seasons with Manchester United, Berbatov, 29, has managed only 26 goals for the club – a return that has seen the team’s supporters frustrated. Purchased for £30.8M in 2008, the club’s faithful will be hoping the skilful striker lives up to his massive price tag.
