Manchester City have apparently earmarked up to €20M to complete the capture of David Luiz from Benfica. The central defender, who can also operate effectively at left back, could be in demand this summer, with Real Madrid also believed to be keeping a close eye on the Brazilian.
Luiz has firmly established himself at the Portuguese giants, having made the left back slot his own, despite feeling more comfortable in the centre. Having joined Benfica in 2007, the 23-year-old has in the past been a key member of Brazil’s Under-20 side.
Indeed, there was surprise amongst the Portuguese press that Brazil boss Dunga did not choose to take Luiz to South Africa for the World Cup this summer.
