Newly crowned French champions Marseille are well into the process of identifying transfer targets for this summer. Keen to strengthen the squad ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign, coach Didier Deschamps has apparently, according to France Football, taken a keen interest in Porto midfielder Raul Meireles and Catania striker Maxi Lopez.
Meireles has been quoted as saying he is not sure where his future lies and indeed it could be outside Portugal, news which Deschamps will have been one of the first to notice. Lopez on the other hand has enjoyed and excellent season with Catania in Serie A and is believed to feel some degree of loyalty to the Italians for resurrecting his career in Europe.
Nevertheless, Marseille remain keen on both, with Meireles especially expected not to come cheap, at around €15M.
