After scoring the decisive goal that booked Blackpool’s place in the Premier League next season, striker Brett Ormerod has paid tribute to his manager Ian Holloway. The Englishman guided the Seasiders to a play-off win over Cardiff City to seal promotion, on an average attendance of just 8,611.
“Ian Holloway should be knighted for what he has achieved on our budget and resources”, Ormerod said to premierleague.com “People have this image of him as a joker because of his one-liners but he is very serious when it comes to football.”
To make the 47-year-old former Bristol Rovers manager’s feat of promotion from the Championship even more impressive, he succeeded in doing so in his first year in charge of Blackpool.
