Real Madrid have taken the much expected move of sacking Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini to pave the way for the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
The decision to dispense with the services of the former Villarreal boss was taken at a board meeing today, with president Florentino Perez clearly believing that Mourinho is the man to take the La Liga giants back to the pinnacle of the Spanish game.
Pellegrini can count himself a little unlucky to lose his job, having accumulated 96 points in La Liga this season with an entirely new-look side. The Chilean was also known to have requested that the La Liga side provide him with a left back, but none was forthcoming, Perez preferring to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and a host of other stars. Pellegrini was also known to have been against the sales of Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben.
All eyes will now be on the Bernabeu for the expected unveiling of Mourinho soon.
